Description
Ces champignons appartiennent aux genres Candida, Cryptococcus, Torulopsis, Pytosporum et Trichosporum. Candida albicans est l’espèce la plus fréquemment isolée au Togo dans les candidoses des muqueuses (digestive, vésiculaire, respiratoire et génitale) et dans les candidoses cutanées et unguéales. Cryptococcus neoformans est l’agent de la mycose profonde à localisation essentiellement nerveuse. Tonulopsis glabrata est avec C. albicans responsable de mycose des muqueuses vulvo-vaginales. Pytosporum orbiculare, anciennement dénommée Malassessia furfur est responsable du Pityriasis versicolor, la mycose la plus banale mais la plus fréquente et la plus répandue à travers le monde. Trichosporum cutaneum est responsable d’une mycose dite exotique appelée « piedra blanche » caractérisée par des nodules blanchâtres qui se développent sur les poils de la barbe ou sur ceux du pubis(Anonyme, 1986 ; Agbo et Sodahlon, 1996).
