Description
: Plusieurs bactéries infectent les plantes au Togo. La bactériose du manioc est causée par le Xanthomonas campestris pv manithotis qui occasionne les baisses de rendement de 20 à 100%. Le Xanthomonas malvacearum cause des pertes considérables de culture cotonnière. D’autres bactéries par contre sont exploitées, modifiées et transformées par les nouvelles techniques de biologie moléculaire et abondamment utilisées en biotechnologies. Les bactéries du genre Agrobacterium, responsables des tumeurs du collet et souvent utilisées dans les techniques de transfert de gènes chez les plantes pourraient exister au Togo selon certaines sources.
