Il a été dénombré au Togo : 5 espèces de champignons supérieurs ; 15 espèces de champignons inférieurs parasites de l’homme et des animaux ; 170 espèces de champignons inférieurs parasites des plantes cultivées (Steiner et al, 1980). Plusieurs champignons, levures et moisissures sont souvent détectées dans les denrées alimentaires. Les principales espèces de ces parasites sont consignées dans le tableau 15.

Geographic Coverage

Les champignons recensés sur ces cultures appartiennent aux genres Cercospora, Altermaria, Phytophthora, Stemphylium et Cladosporum. Les espèces parasites des principales cultures maraîchères (tomate, aubergine, gombo et piment) sont A. solani, A. tenuissima, C. abelmoschi, C. capsici, C. nigrum, C. cucurbitarum, Fusarium oxysporum, P. capsici, P. parasitica, Pythium aphanidermarum, Rhizoctonia solani, Sclerotium relfsii et Stemphylium solani (Steiner et al. 1980). Parmi les champignons parasites des plantes recensées au Togo, le genre Cercospora est le plus représenté avec près de 45 espèces différentes répertoriées, soit près de 27% des champignons parasites des plantes
